Mission StatementRupert's Land Caregiver Services exists to provide services supporting caregivers of elderly persons in their own home in Winnipeg.
Who is eligible for services?
-
Persons who are caring for persons aged 55 or
older living at home within the City of Winnipeg.
Who provides the services?
- Professional Staff - who coordinate the programs and
provide volunteer management.
- Volunteer Staff - who are trained to provide respite services,
handle telephone support, provide assisted transportation, and
to provide administrative support.
Is there a charge for services?
- While there is no required fee for services, donations to help support the program are appreciated.
Rupert's Land Caregiver Services is a non-profit organization.
Services OfferedTime-out for Caregivers: A volunteer trained as a respite companion comes to the home for a few hours so the family caregiver can have a break
Telephone Support: Providing information, support and encouragement for caregivers
Ring-A-Ride:Assisted transportation for caregivers and recipients anywhere in the city limits by prior arrangement. Note: Ring-a-Ride users must live within postal codes, R3L, R3M, R3N, R3P, and part of R3T.
Support Group for Caregivers:Rupert's Land Caregiver Services hosts a support group every second Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at 168 Wilton Street. For more information call RLCS at 452-9491
Information & Referral:A resource bank of information about services not available through Rupert's Land Caregiver Services.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Ring-a-Ride Transportation Program needs volunteer drivers to take RLCS clients to appointments, shopping or social outings. Compensation for gasoline and parking is provided. Volunteer can be available as much as or as little as they wish.
Clients reside in South-West Winnipeg.

E.R.I.K. (Emergency Response Information Kit)
E.R.I.K. has been developed by a community Advisory Council, established in response to community concerns regarding the availability of adequate information in emergency situations. All area emergency groups have endorsed this program. Once completed, the kit provides the necessary information for emergency personnel to respond quickly to your situation.
